Catherine Gertrude Slack
(1897–1987)

Catherine Gertrude 'Kitty' Slack, was born to John James Slack and his wife Margaret Angela Hinchy on 12 December 1897 in Brisbane, Queensland.

At only 15, she gained senior honours from Trinity College, London, having previously gained two certificates from the Royal Academy of Music.  

As Organist of St Stephen's Catholic Cathedral, Brisbane for 50 years between 1923 and 1973, Miss Kitty Slack was one of the foremost organists of her generation in northern Australia.    

Kitty Slack died on 6 February 1987 in Brisbane and is buried in the South Brisbane General Cemetery.
