All Stops Out!
GALA NextGen Exhibition Concert and Grand Organ Tour
Broaden your horizons with a captivating Exhibition Concert featuring the next generation of organists exploring
Music - Culture - Heritage - Science - Technology - History and more as only the Pipe Organ can!
Three of Australia's finest young organists in their mid-teens: Emily Cao, Austin Chen and Joshua Nah, dazzle on the largest and most valuable musical instrument in the southern hemisphere!
This stunning showcase will include the two most famous pieces of organ music yet written - Widor's Toccata and Bach's Toccata in D minor - as well as Mussorgsky's Great Gate of Kiev and works by Handel, Guilmant, Dubois, Boëllmann, Vierne and more. And you can watch the performers' hands and feet up close on the big screens as they control hundreds of keys and thousands of organ pipes!
All Stops Out! also includes an illustrated presentation about how the Grand Organ works and how it's possible for one organist to control nearly 10,000 organ pipes!
After the Exhibition Concert, at 2 pm, you are welcome to take a tour actually inside the Melbourne Town Hall Grand Organ. The Grand Organ is four storeys high with a greater floor space than five average homes. It even has a bathroom and toilet! Some of the nearly 10,000 organ pipes are over three storeys high.

Time: 1.00 pm to 1.55 pm on Wednesday 1 August 2018. Then you can take a tour inside at the end of the concert.
